Summer Has Walked So Softly…..

Summer Has Walked so softly poetry Ethel Romig Fuller Seashore Summer Maine Vacationing Summer Waning

Summer has walked so softly
Over the flowery grass,

sailing in Maine Seashore Vacationing in Maine Black woods Acaida Park Path to the sea

Summer has walked so swiftly
No one has seen her pass.

Now yellow leaves are blowing
Down the path she trod
Between the first blue iris,
And the last of the goldenrod

And where she lingered for saying,
Goodbye, had any heard ~
No doubt we thought it a wind song,
Or the cry of a migrant bird~

Are only a mist of wild asters
And a thistledown-light imprint
Of a small and worn green sandal
On a bed of rusty mint.

I discovered this delightful poem ~ Summer Has Walked So Softly by Ethel Romig Fuller, in one of my vintage magazines ~ The Home Art Magazine September 1934.

I hope you enjoy!
